s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy - FAQ

  1. What is s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy?

s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy is a high performance synthetic dust bag developed to meet the specific needs of allergy sufferers, and more generally of people demanding a higher level of hygiene. This NEW HEPA 10 top filtration dust bag captures allergens as small as 1 micron, giving a clean and healthy home environment. The s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy has been awarded with the ECARF seal of quality. ECARF stands for the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation which has its base in Berlin, Germany. The main target for ECARF is to improve the awareness and the knowledge of allergies, reduce the illness-stress on patients and society, improve research concerning allergies and also support the Global Allergy and Asthma European Network (GA²LEN).

  2. What are the benefits of s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy?

    s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy offers:

    • Extremely high filtration: This high quality synthetic bag is providing a filtration level at HEPA 10, capturing and filtering small dust particles, pollen, dust mites, mite allergens, and cat allergens as small as 1 micron (that is 15 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair). Although the filtration capacity is improved the clogging performance is maintained, thanks to the fine fibre distribution in the material.
    • Anti-allergen effect: As s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy leaves a healthier home environment and cleaner air in the home, it reduces the exposure to allergens. A healthier home helps you to reduce the risk of allergies in your family.
    • High level of hygiene: Thanks to its unique patented cardboard the s-bag is easy to close when removed from the cleaner, preventing any spillage and making bag changes cleaner than ever. Very hygienic, it contributes to air purity in your home, therefore protecting your health.

  3. Why is the s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy folded?

s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy is folded to make it easier to fit the dust bag in the cleaner compartment, and to improve vacuuming efficiency. Compared to a flat synthetic bag, the folded synthetic dust bag:

    • Is easier to fit in the cleaner and more flexible
    • Can contain 15% more dust on average
    • Allows better dust pick up
    • Has a more durable construction

  4. Why is it important use the s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy?

Indoor air is not as clean as you think. There are three main ways to reduce indoor air pollution:

    1. Eliminate the source of pollutants
    2. Introduce fresh air into the home
    3. Use different filtration systems to remove particles

Clean indoor air will prevent allergies from arising. Cleaning normally means taking away the dust and dirt you can see - the visible particles. However, it is what we can’t see that is hazardous for our health - the invisible airborne particles. We inhale these particles every day and research has demonstrated that common house dust is a major cause of allergy problems. We consume 0,5 litres of air for each breath we take – totally 12 000 litres of air per day. In every litre of air we inhale millions of air-borne particles such as pollen, dust and pet dander. 99% of all particles are smaller than thousands of a millimetre and invisible. Some airborne particles can be seen with the naked eye, but not until they have come to rest on bookshelves, lamps etc. A vacuum cleaner should pick up all dust, visible as well as invisible particles and not release them again. Unfortunately, most vacuum cleaners leak millions of tiny particles during usage, causing increased levels of airborne particles.

The s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy is an allergy friendly product and has been awarded with the ECARF seal of quality. ECARF stands for the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation which has its base in Berlin, Germany. The main target for ECARF is to improve the awareness and the knowledge of allergies, reduce the illness-stress on patients and society, improve research concerning allergies and also support the Global Allergy and Asthma European Network (GA²LEN).

s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy can capture and retain tiny particles like pollen, dust mites and allergens. By purifying the air leaving the vacuum cleaner, this high filtration dust bag reduces the risk of allergic reactions giving your family a healthier home environment.

  5. Has s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy been tested by any independent laboratory?

All tests have been carried out by an Electrolux laboratory and by an independent external laboratory, the Swedish Test and Research Institute, SP (Statens Provningsanstalt). SP backs up all our claims on s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy.

  6. What does HEPA stand for?

Hepa stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air, a type of high-efficiency air filter.

  7. Why is s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy green?

Green material relates to purity, hygiene, cleanliness and for easier recognition.

  8. What is the capacity of s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy?

The capacity of the bag is up to 3.5 litres (depending on the size of the dust bag compartment).

  9. What is s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy made of?

s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy is made of a high quality synthetic material, based on polypropylene.

  10. Is s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy environmentally friendly?

s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy is made of polypropylene. This material gives off nothing toxic when burnt with household waste, only water and carbon dioxide. Dust bags should not be recycled but burnt as the content inside the bag might be hazardous.

  11. How often should I change my s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy?

Your dust bag should be changed when you feel a decrease in the suction power and/or when you see it is visibly full. On average but of course depending on use, you should change it every 2 months. To ensure the best cleaner performance, we also recommend changing the motor filter and exhaust filter every 5 dust bags or when visibly soiled.

  12. Can s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy be used several times like a textile dust bag?

No, s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy is developed to meet the specific needs of people demanding a higher level of hygiene and intended for one time use only.

  13. Where is s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy produced?

s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy is manufactured in an ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 9001:2000 certified factory in Europe.

  14. How will a synthetic bag like s-bag® HEPA anti-allergy improve the performance of my cleaner?

Synthetic materials have a better capacity to retain particles without clogging, due to the structure of the material. Clogging in dust bags means that particles block the material, thus reducing the airflow through the bag which leads to a loss in suction power. Instead of the particles adhering to the surface of the material, as is the case with paper, they are retained in and among the fibres. This reduces the clogging effect and improves the filtration capacity as well as the performance during the lifetime of the dust bag. Furthermore, since the synthetic fibres are automatically charged with static electricity during vacuuming, the fibres will attract charged dust particles leading to a more efficient filtration. The low clogging of the new synthetic s-bag results in maximum suction power, thus optimizing dust pick up. Combined with high filtration, the synthetic s-bag captures a maximum of dust particles, leaving a clean home with pure fresh air.
